Server routing wont work until I select "Append HTTP Proxy to VPN" option

Routing on the XRAY server wont work until I either turn off "metadata only" in inbound sniffing options or turn on "Append HTTP Proxy to VPN" on client side. Routing works fine on PC whether "metadata only" is turned off or on. Any ideas?

I also have problem with routing on android 8\emui 8

I have the exact same issue.
What I found is some clients like V2rayN have "udp": true in the settings of their inbounds. If you can add JSON to your client with it's udp as true then it would work. It worked for me for preventing DNS leak, but I didn't test further.
Another possible solution is turning on "Append HTTP Proxy to VPN" on V2rayNG. Somehow that works too.

But I didn't know setting metadataOnly as false on the server would fix it for the client. That's enough of a solution for me, Thanks for the info!
