Do open data applications need to have global reach or impact? #176

Description

@ricardomiron

Do datasets that are very specific to a single location or country be considered for DPG status or is there a minimal level of impact or usability that the data need to have in order to be considered?

Example:

  • An API that provides data about the geographical location of government offices within a country.
  • A dataset that includes budget information of a single government entity.
  • Geographic data of the public transport routes of a couple of cities within a country.

The discussion point mainly focuses on the need for an open data solution that can be used broadly vs. only in a local context and what minimum level of impact or relevance (global, regional, multiple countries, or country-wide) should be required if at all.
