Run live web applications

I wish there was an easy and direct way to run standalone web applications within an operating system like running Windows or Linux programs, but for standalone web applications.

Ya that would be cool, and I have plans for "3rd party app" support, but I can't imagine it would ever just work without some changes to whatever the "app" is.

You can run exe's via BoxedWine, but it's very limited.

I don't think you understood me.
I don't mean running Windows or Linux programs, but rather a simple analogy.
I mean a program made entirely with web technology and running directly without the need to set up a local server to run it. It works like a regular program, but instead of the .exe file in Windows, it will be index.html.
I don't know if this is possible, as my experience in this area is modest.
The reason I'm interested in this operating system is to run web applications offline and develop web applications.

I think what you are describing is already possible. The screen savers I made are almost an example of this.

3D Flower Box.xscr

The file /System/3D Flower Box.xscr is actually just an html file which I have coded to run in a full screen iframe with all the code embedded in it. You could make a program which building into one of these self contained html files and then use daedalOS to run it in a window or fullscreen via an iframe, and have it interact with everything via postMessage to do file system or process control if needed.
