Use `mockery` to test for connections?

I'm not sure how to do it just yet but the mockery package can be used to test functions (I think) without having to have a connection to the SQL servers. Also see dittodb from ROpenSci

It looks like there is a new function in testthat that works like the deprecated with_mock (which has a message to use mockery instead) and this tests ok!

    get_env_var = function(var_name) {
      service = "TESTING"
      username = "tested"
      return(list(var_name = service, username = username))
    }
  )

The withr package also allows for temporary setting of the global variables within a test:

  withr::with_envvar(new = c("GLOBAL_SETTING" = "username"), Sys.getenv("GLOBAL_SETTING"))
