Functionality
Problem
The graphic timetable automatically generates platform occupation diagrams and assigns tracks based on inbound/outbound train connections. However, the automatic output is not always "operationally optimal" for a first draft, and users currently cannot manually adjust
- Connections between inbound and outbound trains
- Track assignments for individual train movements
to share clean outputs with other stakeholders.
Instead, users manually manipulate the outputs using paint/ powerpoint to share the results with other stakeholders
Proposed Solution
Enable limited user-driven editing of platform occupation and track assignments:
1. Adjust Inbound → Outbound Connections
- Allow users to manually define or override which inbound train connects to which outbound train in the station/turnback graph
2. Manual Track Assignment Overrides
- Add the ability for the user to manually select or change the platform/track used by a train, overriding the auto-generated assignment.
3. Immediate Visual Update
- Changes should update the platform occupation diagram and the graphic timetable in real time.
