I don't know if this may cause any problem but the code in the example is:

(def square (fn [x] (* x x)))

not:

(defn square (fn [x] (* x x)))

I get:

The following commands were entered into the sandbox:

I was able to reproduce by typing in square 10 incorrectly (without the brackets) instead of (square 10)

Mine is currently Version Windows 10 Chrome 59.0.3071.109 (Official Build) (64-bit). I will try again.
I can no longer reproduce the failure. Basically it was just occurring when I entered in square 2, by accident. Instead of (square 2).

I'm getting the originally reported exception in Vivaldi 1.10.867.46 (Stable channel) (64-bit), which is a Chromium based browser. My OS is the latest stable version of Solus, which is a Linux distribution. The version of Vivaldi I am using is the one that gets installed when you use the Solus Software Center to install it.

I just now tried it in Chrome on the same OS I where I had the problem, and it works fine in Chrome. Version 58.0.3029.110 (64-bit)
