Reading from Alpine.data

I have a specific use case where I'm now forced to use Alpine.store to both write and read a value. I though it would be possible with Alpine.data but apparently not. Alpine.data only supports writing/setting attribute values. Reading/getting values is only supported through $data which means that it can't be accessed outside of the "Alpine world" like Alpine.store.

Why doesn't Alpine.data support reading/getting values like Alpine.store? Is there a technical limitation that causes it?

1. Data defines constructors, not specific instances
2. Alpine.$data(element) exists to get the flattened datastack from an element (it's a shortcut for doing Alpine.mergeProxies(Alpine.closestDatastack(element)))

OK, thank you. I managed to find another way to actually be able to use x-data in my specific use case.
