Drag-and-Drop of created X11-windows (pull out Firefox Tab) into windows

A feature I sorely miss is the ability to just grab a Firefox Tab and drag it into any Emacs/exwm Window to make the newly created Firefox instance show up there.

Wish:

• Condition: exwm with at least two windows
• Condition: Firefox with multiple Tabs in one window.
• Action: Drag and Drop one of the tabs with the mouse into the window that does not have Firefox.
• Expected (⇒ Wish): The window that held Firefox still shows the existing Firefox with the remaining tabs. The other window shows the new firefox with the dragged Tab.
• Actual: The new Firefox opens in the window of the existing Firefox.

You might want to look at exwm-firefox-core and related packages for this kind of behaviour. Edit: More concretely, exwm-firefox seems to provide similar functionality, although keyboard-driven.

I think you just need to set so that focus follows the mouse to get this behavior. I think pulled tabs appear in the currently selected buffers when dropped.

For what it may be worth, your expected behaviour /does/ happen if you drag the tab to another workspace (for instance, with multiple monitors), even without focus-follows-mouse. Maybe that could be a starting point for your investigation?

I use that, but it seems like it uses a random buffer on the target screen. Maybe that’s because that was the last selected?

Could it be an option to automatically activate focus-follows-mouse when I’m dragging something? I don’t see a hook for that, though.

I mean, you could hook into button1-down ^^
But I would classify that as a workaround rather than a solution.
