Add a link inline inside a <p> tag

Lets say I have an empty slate editor. When I type any letter, it is wrapped inside a <p> tag. I write a full sentence inside the editor, without a line break.
Lets assume I have this one here: <p>Hello this is the link to github</p>

Now I want to select one word in this single <p> tag and want to add a link. It should NOT add any kind of linebreak or split the single <p> tag into 2 or 3.
So I want that: <p>Hello <a href="https://github.com">this</> is the link to github</p>

I have no idea how I can implement this. I am only able to add the <a> tag outside of the <p> tag or split the given <p> tag into 3 parts. Like here:

Transforms.wrapNodes(editor, link, { split: true })

But that's not what I want. I want to add the tag inline, like written above.
Can someone tell me how I can do that? (using the react library of slate)

Ok got it. I had to wrap the whole editor in an function which discribes a link as an inline element. I thought I can pass this information while placing the link element but that was a wrong assumption.
