Current behaviour

Same issue as in the closed issue "External links are not working #6856"

1. Right-click a note.
2. Select "Copy External Link".
3. Paste that into a browser.
4. Nothing happens. It gets treated like search information and the search engine tries to interpret it as search.

Expected behaviour

My understanding is that acting on that link is supposed to open Joplin with that note in focus.

Logs

I didn't think this would appear in the logs since it is an issue external to running Joplin. But I did go that route -- setup flags.txt -- and I got the same results as above; nothing happened in Joplin.

May I ask why you are using such an old version? Could you maybe use the latest 3.4.12 and see if this solves your issue?

I guess I just hadn't checked for an update in a while. I did so, installed the new AppImage, and am now running "Joplin 3.4.12 (prod linux)".

No change in the behavior; the issue still exists.

In case it may be related: I install AppImages via scripts I wrote that handle installing the app under /opt, extracting the icon from the AppImage, and creating the menu entry. (I prefer not cluttering up my /home with apps; it lets backups include only my data and not a bunch of apps.)

I looked through your install script -- in case it might do something that sets up this external link condition -- but did not see anything that appeared related.

I'm closing this as it is now working. I don't know what fixed it. I did get one or more browser (and other) upgrades since the last time I tried it so maybe that.
