I can add that compiling gtk+3.24.36 from the source re-introduces the problem. I shall look (and report) at exactly which version of GTK+3 the problem appeared. |

OK I now compiled everything from GTK 3.24.33 (previous Homebrew version) to GTK 3.24.36 (current homebrew version) an can tell the problem first arises in 3.24.35. I will stick to GTK+-3.24.34, compile it from the sources and install it (have no time to dig into this further). |

Output of
brew configOutput of
brew doctorDescription of issue
With the current version of gtk+3, window sizes in menus are not correct. Very often, the window itself is narrower than its title bar, and at the bottom some space is missing (some elements are not completely visible). This problem was not present in earlier versions, and after I compiled gtk+3 3.24.33 from the sources (outside homebrew) the problem went away.
If this can be confirmed, homebrew should stick to the last "working" version of gtk+3.
If anything is unclear, I can send screen-shots upon request.
I have not yet compiled 3.24.36 from the sources to verify the problem is "in the gtk sources" but can so so if requested.
Not the "huge" output from brew doctor comes from those tons of gtk+3 files now installed "outside homebrew".
