Linux: Unable to get brew services to work with sudo

I’m unable to get any of the brew services command working with sudo. This is the output:

Couldn’t find any information about this issue online so checking if there’s something obvious being missed here. Any idea what could be wrong?

I’m not trying to install anything as sudo or run brew in sudo mode in general. This is specifically for the [documented] use case of running sudo brew services in order to launch a service at boot time.

On some Linux distributions, you may need to do sudo --preserve-env=HOME brew services
