Description of issue

Does audit_exceptions/github_prerelease_allowlist.json in the mas repo do anything useful for Homebrew or for anything else?

I imagine that I can safely delete the file, but want to double check first.

I don't anticipate releasing any prereleases of mas in the future.

The PR Tate added the file mentions the file being useful for testing in a local tap. I assume that I can test a local tap using a normal (non-prerelease) version, so the file seems unnecessary.

I also assume that the file in the repo doesn't apply to the homebrew-core mas formula or to the mas custom tap formula in the mas custom tap repo.

I assume that, to affect either of those formulae, I would need to add, or to edit an existing, audit_exceptions/github_prerelease_allowlist.json in their respective repo.

You're correct in that it would need to be in a tap that is being audited to do anything. Our audits will usually flag GitHub Pre-releases and fail the jobs. It's safe for you to remove that from your repo.
