Vite build with bun hangs in dockerfile

Hi,
I'm still having issues making proper testing bun with dockerfile.

The process hangs on the build command and never ends.

This is the last debug messages where bun hangs.

This is not happening if I run bun run build without Dockerfile.

Dockerfile simple commands:

FROM oven/bun AS build
WORKDIR /app

COPY package.json bun.lockb ./

RUN bun install --frozen-lockfile

COPY . .

RUN bun run build

Happens on WSL2 on Windows 11.

• Docker version: 25.0.3 installed on WSL2
• Bun version locally 1.0.29

I'm facing the same on my project. After some debugging session, I've found my issue is related to this vite pluging: vite-plugin-checker. When removing checker from the vite.config, it doesn't get stuck anymore.

Are you using same plugin?

Yes, I'm using it, I will give, a try. Really I don't understand that plugin, cuz didn't catch all typescript issues, and I'm force to do tsc, before build.

I'm also experiencing the same problem when trying to containerize a freshly built nuxt 3.13.1 application.

I don't think it's WSL / docker related. I'm on linux, on different docker version:

⇒ docker -v
Docker version 27.1.2, build d01f264bcc
⇒ uname -r
6.10.6-10-MANJARO

Building with Bun hangs here at the "transforming" part. It just works when I do bun run build and then bun run start.

More info regarding my setup: I run the following Dockerfile with this command.

When I use the NPM setup, it works alright. That setup I run using:

Upgrading bun to 1.2.2 should fix this issue.

I think that did the trick, since the image is just using the latest.

Same issue here, but it's pretty sporadic.

Setting NODE_OPTIONS='--max-old-space-size=4096 yarn build, worked for me
